Our new exhibition at Vestry House Museum is free and open 5 March to 1 November 2020.
Opening times Wednesday – Sunday 10am – 5pm.
Closed Monday and Tuesday.
We have been photographing Waltham Forest’s ‘Windrush’ residents, those, who came to the UK from the Caribbean to create new lives from the 1950s to the 1970s. Whether at home, work or play these residents have contributed to the fabric of Waltham Forest in numerous and surprising ways, yet little evidence exists in the borough archives. This project seeks to redress that, collecting oral histories, historic photographs and contemporary photographs.
50 new portraits by photographers Udall Evans, Katherine Green, Jo Sealy, Paula Smith, Nicola Tree, Paul Tucker and Simon Warren will be displayed alongside over 100 personal family pictures, and oral testimonies. There will also be a series of free events. See the website for details.
